My 100th Post! {The Red Ranger}

Today I had the privilege of dropping off my 12 year old sister at the middle school. When we got in the car she said something like "I'll tell you where to drop me off..." and I smiled and Said "Sis you don't want me to drop you off right in front where everyone can check out Mr. Truck??!".. Her response-- "Nope! You can drop me off around the corner and I'll walk to the front."

I remember being in Middle school and waiting for my mom to come pick me up and praying that she was driving our little Nissan Altima and not the Pontiac DustBuster... Do you know which one I'm talking about?? I SWEAR that this minivan was modeled after the BLACK AND DECKER DUSTBUSTER 3.21507!

But isn't The 1991 Red Ranger [commonly referred to as Mr. Truck] WAY cooler than the dustbuster!??

With it's plush red interior and orange scented air freshener

And the dented right wheel well {special thank you to the plumber who didn't see THE BRIGHT RED TRUCK in his rear-view mirror}

Not to mention the dent on the driver's door {this one was my bad.. My arms were full of soccer stuff and I used my foot to shut the door and most definitely kicked a dent into it OOPS!}

and what about the bed packed full of crusty nasty snow!

But those are only the visually noticeable imperfections! If she really wanted to look cool she'd have me put it in park just so that everyone could watch it lurch as I shifted from Park into Drive! :D

But on a more serious note this really is the BEST truck ever. My older sister drove it through high school and so have Sass and I. Then we bought a little Civic for college, but ever since I've been back I really have been happy to be driving Mr. Truck again!

Remember the show CARS?? Mater is SO much cooler and funnier than Lightning McQueen-- Why? Because Mr. Truck and Mater both have character!
Eventho I know it's not the best car for a Middle schooler, I do love The Red Ranger. I think I'll cry when it dies because heaven knows we're NOT selling it!

Dear Mr. Truck;
You've been quite reliable and durable. You don't get the greatest gas mileage, but that's ok I love you anyway!
Love, Kaylen

P.S.- did you notice the snow on the ground in the pics??.. Ya it snowed last night and of course I just took The Red Ranger to the car wash earlier this week!This is the view outside my front door. Please also note that we still have like 2 feet of snow in our yard that has yet to melt.

P.S.S. thank you for everyone that gave swimming suit advice! I've still yet to buy one but all of your suggestions will be taken into serious consideration :D

Needs Another Swimsuit....

So summertime is coming quickly which means it's time for a new swimsuit :D My current favorite website for modest tankini's is limericki.com they have SUPER cute suits but I'm debating on which one to get-- so what do you think??

1-
This one is my favorite..
but my mom hates the turquoise bottoms with the red band.. I kinda like it

2-
This one is also a top favorite.. I think it'll minimize my bust, but the negative side is that it's $10 more than the other tops--- boo!

3-
This one is my mom's favorite, but I already have 2 halter top swim suits and I dunno if I want another one, but it is really like it besides that--

Pretty much all of them are cute, but I was looking at their website and noticed that they had a blog so I looked at it and it lets you know when different tops go on sale! sweet! so I stuck the link on my blog list so that we can all watch for the updates when different ones go on sale :D Yeah! ha So ya let me know which one you like! Muchas Gracias!

bring on the summertime!

Influence

Remember Ross from my last post? Well he's a year younger than I am, so right now he's preparing to leave on his mission in about 2 weeks... Can I just say that he is hilarious! ha but we've been hanging out a ton recently and it's been SO fun to watch him prepare and take his last steps before going into the mission field :D

A couple times a month our ward has the opportunity to go to the temple and preform baptisms for the dead and I've always teased Ross a little because he was one of the only boys there that wasn't endowed and able to baptize and confirm-- well last week Ross went through the temple and I was SO excited for him! So this week when we went I was stoked for him because it was his first time baptizing--- so we rigged it!

We ended up timing it right so that he was able to confirm me and then also I was the first person he was able to baptize as well. It was awesome to be a part of something so amazing with friend that you admire and respect!

Most people that know Ross think that he might be immature because he is hyper and happy 95% of the time, but I've learned this week that he may be a bit naive to the world, but when it comes to preforming those sacred ordinances he didn't joke or poke fun. He recognized the significance of the ordinance and handled it better and more maturely than most of the older boys there and it was such a breath of fresh air! Ross knows-- and because he knows he will serve faithfully. I'm so grateful for his example of what it means to be happy, fun, and faithful.

The church is true :D

Oh the bank...

So quick little story for you..

The other day (I meant to write about this the day it happened, but just haven't had time) I was working and this guy comes up to my window... he was in about his late 20's and deposited some money and then he kept glancing at my name tag and made a bunch of comments about my name.. so yada yada yada I finished the deposit and he looked up at me and:

"So can I ask you a forward question??"

"Umm sure!"

"If I gave you my number would you call me?"

"uhh I actually can't discuss anything like that at work, sorry"

"That's what I thought"

(he exits and all the girls kinda giggle at me and I didn't think much more about it until thirty minutes later when I looked up to see an old lady at my station....)

"How can I help you?"

"Have you called my grandson yet??"

"Pardon.."

"My grandson-- have you called him?"

"I'm sorry I'm not sure who your grandson is..."

" 'John Doe' "

"John Doe... Umm I actually just barely met him when he came in a few minutes ago.."

"Oh well perfect! Then that must be why he gave me his phone number to give to you so that you can call him!"

[WHAT THE CRAP] (at this point his MOTHER walks up to the window and grandma explains the situation to mother and they both laugh...)

"Well he is just the best boy in the world. You just need to call him and I promise you it'll be worth your time...

"He's just getting a little older and he just needs to find himself a good nice girl... So write down his number (grandma rambles off his number as I scribble it down)"

"Sorry about this! I promise we're not normally this strange!" (doubtful)
yada yada yada
(Grandma and Mother exit)

So at this point all the other tellers are having quite the hayday with this little situation and one suggests that I just text him with her phone (so that he doesn't have my number) and tell him that I'm going on a mission.. which isn't a lie.. so I do and he texts back and says something like oh good for you. Then I went to lunch and came back and my co-worker pulls out her phone and was like look at this and the text said, "are you sure you're going on a mission?? because that's the second time I've heard that excuse"-- What does he expect me to say back to that??? umm ya sorry I lied I'm not going on a mission and would really like to go out with you..? false. I texted back that I wouldn't lie about something like that and I thought Oh good! It's over!... false

(a couple hours later Mother enters)(please try to imagine the look of astonishment on my face when I look up and realize that she is back AGAIN...)

"I went back to work and I was thinking where do I know you from! and I just couldn't remember and it was just driving me crazy! But you helped with that preschool class a couple years ago didn't you??"

(SIDE STORY: my jr or senior year of high school I did an internship at a preschool and this lady was one of the lady's that helped out with the preschool class)

"ya I did.."

"I knew it! I just couldn't remember but then when I did I thought OH! I just have to go and tell her!"

".... ha ha ya." (super awkward at this point-- not know what to say)

"...I'm sorry if this is kinda weird for you, but you just need to call him and blah blah blah"

(mother exits)(take note that mother has now made a second trip to the bank for a 30 second conversation)

MY ARGUMENT: I had NO clue who this kid was and I don't ever give out my number to random dudes at the bank... If I would've known who his family was before hand then I might've gone, but for all I knew he could've been a rapist! But even AFTER I found out who he was his family was WAY too involved (granted he probably would've died if he knew his mom came back in, but still) and he was lame when he tried to call me out on not going on a mission-- the only thing that was really going for him at that point was the fact that he has some money..(I may or may not have noticed his his balance when helped him earlier ;) opps! But at least I can say that I'm not a gold digger!

Philosophy: "Dear future in-laws: Please be AWESOME!"
